Election Day 2013

Tomorrow is election day here in Pa. I am urging everybody to get out and vote. In particular (no fainting please) vote for Bednar for Controller and Harry Haas for council.

In the controller race, as much as it pains me to ever endorse a democratic candidate, this is an easy call to make. Sometimes the devil you don't know is a far better pick than the one we all know all too well.

For county council I am hoping everybody votes for just Harry Haas. Harry is a man of exceptional character and honesty and he deserves all of our votes.

Luzerne County Home Rule Charter

Having read the proposed charter I can tell you that it is not perfect. Specifically, I'd have liked to see either districting or guaranteed minority representation. Do I like that the controller's position has been diminished? Certainly not. That we have to let it run for 5 years before we can change it? hell no.

The sad reality is that even if you think the charter is the completely goofy it simply cannot be any worse than what we have currently. Further, even if you haven't read the charter you could make a wise decision to vote for it just by taking a look at those that have come out rabidly against it. Just as we are all judged by the company we keep (and rightly so) so should this be judged by those both for and against it. On the con (no pun intended) side, we have Comm. Petrilla who was of course the controller while the Luzerne County taxpayers were being robbed and children used as a profit center. solicitor Vito Deluca, an entrenched democrat that also loses his job if the charter passes. Carolee Oleginski, our beloved prothonotary (which only about 4% of the residents even know what a prothonotary does) also stands to lose her job. The list is long of those against it and almost all of them stand to lose their employment and or power. The exception is Walter Griffith, Controller Extraordinaire. I have heard his concerns and they certainly are legitimate but again, it can't be worse than what we have now. Walter is the only elected official I trust at the courthouse but I disagree with him here.

Then we have those not in office blathering on any radio station that will have them. Some I think are just sycophants and others like being in the press. Like the woman from the lake that has become famous for her crusade against reassessment. If I ever meet her I just want to ask her if she complained as vociferously about her taxes for all those years when she knew she wasn't paying anywhere near what she should have been. But I digress..........

I think we should all vote for the charter and at least try to change the culture of corruption in this county because until that changes, we are a sunk ship. If all of the entrenched dome dwellers are against it, it has to be good for the taxpayers. Fact is, they have given us every reason in the world to vote for this charter and I hope you all do.

More Fun and Games in Luzerne County

Recently, we've been treated to the stories of corruption at our schools. While it is nice to actually read about the perpetrators getting caught, it amazes me that it is entirely possible to find out more about this crap by just going out to a pub and chatting with people. I know you want an example, so I'll give you two.

All the local papers have been talking about Intellacom's business dealings with Pittston Area and LCCC. It has been reported that Intellacom, owned by Tony Trombetta, was given hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of no bid contracts by Ross Scarantino. What hasn't been reported is that Scarantino's buddy Brian Dunn also hired Intellacom to put in security cameras at WB Career and Tech School. I heard the contract was worth over $600k. How'd the newspapers miss that? Did the FBI miss it too?

Another little bird tweeted to me that a certain local business has a virtual monopoly on selling pizza to almost every single local school district (oddly enough, WB Career and Tech isn't one of them). While that in and of itself doesn't mean anything fishy is going on, it should be looked into. I am always curious as to how one business manages to tie up a large amount of taxpayer dollars and seemingly has no competition and doesn't have to bid to get the contract.

I'll let you know when more filth comes bubbling out.

The Luzerne County Corruption Crew

As more and more of this sordid tale comes to light, isn't it obvious what needs done in our courthouse? It needs a very thorough enema! Every single employee there that got their job through nepotism or cronyism (that's pretty much everybody) needs to be replaced through an open and transparent process. Advertise every job and I mean every job there and make sure the interviews are conducted by an outside source. I certainly don't mean Hackett's firm either, after all, he has donated heavily to many of the elected power brokers there.

As has been covered on my friend Gort42's page, many are in fear of losing their job. As well they should be!! We have all heard the stories about county employees that rarely, if ever, actually show up for work (and I'm not just talking about certain park directors either). These people have others clock them in and out and are protected by those in power. I say they are flat out stealing from the taxpayers. They all need to go!

Now we have a judge's son using his father's name in an effort to escape justice. I personally like the guy and my family has enjoyed many a great meal at his restaurant. The problem is the systemic sense of entitlement that those who have friends and relatives in power in the courthouse have. They believe they are immune and protected from any type of trouble. We need them to know just how wrong they are! As for the judge stating that he will have a judge from another county handle the trial if there is one, come on, does anybody honestly believe that the presiding judge isn't going to get a phone call?????? Spare me!

Luzerne County's Finest, Conahan and Ciavarella Plead Guilty

The first of the rats infesting the courthouse are caught and are pleading guilty. I wrote last year that this was coming and am happy that I was right. They are each going to serve 87 months in prison. Granted, it will be a club fed, but prison none the less.

I heard through the grape vine that the next to be pinched will be a certain court administrator that has been on paid leave since August of last year. It seems he accidentally stole a few hundred thousand dollars of confiscated gambling device money. I heard he has been in rehab for an undisclosed addiction. Most likely he was addicted to stupidity.

I am wondering how all the other rats are sleeping these days. You have to bet that Ciavarella and Conahan are dishing the dirt on everybody that is dirty there. If for no other reason than to spread the misery. Certain elected officials that have been granting no-bid contracts come to mind. I truly can't wait!

Luzerne County Elected Officials Bad at Math

http://www.timesleader.com/news/20080510_10juvietimeline_jen_ART.html

Please click the link, read the article, then read this. Our cornhole commissioners actually got us into this deal. They want us all to believe that they actually thought that paying $58,000,000 over a 20 year lease made more sense than owning the facility for $8,000,000. For those that may not be as good at math as I happen to be and also for those who are as tragically bad at math like Scrapheap and former comm. Vonderhideyourwallett; The lease is essentially $2.9 million per year for twenty years. Now, had these flunkies actually ever been to a math class they could've figured out that buying for $8. million would've cost $1.92 million for 5 years had they took a 5 year loan. Yes I included generous interest in that payment. How in the holy vermilion hells can anybody think that lease was a good idea??? Nobody is this fookin stupid!!!So what explains it?? I would like a forensic accountant to look into Scrap and Todd's personal finances. Can anyone say offshore accounts? Does the name Cayman Islands ring a bell? Does this answer the question of how a $42,000 per year earning commissioner could afford to join Huntsville Golf Club? The above pic illustrates the math skills of the fecal impactions that got us into this mess for their own profit.

A lot to write about today

It just keeps getting better and better in Luzerne County if you happen to like to write about corruption. Judge Conahan's brother-in-law is the latest beneficiary of our tax dollars. Over $800,000. in the last 4 years. Two hundred thou per year!!!! Holy marthafocker, I am doing something wrong in my life. I need to get myself a relative/buddy in power at the court house.

Scrapheap points out that Urban recommended somebody to bid on supplying the prison with produce. Unlike Scrap, Urban's boy did a whopping $5,000. with the prison. For those who don't remember, Scrap's boy did $700 thou and change. yep Greg, Urban's on the same level as you, not. By the way Greg, how much of the $700,000 did you get?????????????

Our wonderful congressman from the 10TH is showing that he really represents his constituents. He is one of those strange beings known as a super delegate that will actually pick the next democrat to run in the general election. His district voted overwhelmingly for Billary Hatestherod, man Clinton. Yet Carney won't say who he is going to back. I think the only reason for this is that he didn't get his orders from Pelosi yet.

Another Black eye for Luzerne County Government

As has been covered on Gort's blog http://gort42.blogspot.com, Scrapheap's best friend Sam "I am the Problem" Guesto has really screwed the pooch this time. He even has Petrilla after his head. Poor old Scrap has no comment. Well, no shit Sherlock. He is your boy and doesn't so much as blow his nose without your permission. The fact that the warden has come out and said he was present when Guesto ordered the no bid bullshit has to be taken very seriously. He has put his job on the line for telling the truth. No matter what Petrilla says, Guesto should be suspended without pay immediately. Scrap should take a leave of absence until the investigation is complete. If laws were broken, and it sure as fark looks that way, certain local political hacks need 3 hots and a cot courtesy of the state for a few years. That includes you, scrap!!! The one amazing question I have is, who is this outside agency that is conducting the investigation????

I wish this guy was running our county!!!!

TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO, HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER. THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:Sheriff Joe Arpaio (In Arizona) who created the 'Tent City Jail':He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails.

Took away their weights Cut off all but 'G' movies. He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects. Then He Started Chain Gangs For Women So He Wouldn't Get Sued For Discrimination. He took away cable TV Until he found out there was a Federal Court Order that Required Cable TV For Jails So He Hooked Up The Cable TV Again Only Let In The Disney Channel And The Weather Channel. When asked why the weather channel He Replied, So They Will Know How Hot Its Gonna Be While They Are Working ON My Chain Gangs. He Cut Off Coffee Since It Has Zero Nutritional Value. When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This Isn't The Ritz/Carlton...If You Don't Like It, Don't Come Back.'He bought Newt Gingrich's lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails. When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place. More On The Arizona Sheriff:With Temperatures Being Even Hotter Than Usual In Phoenix (116 Degrees Just Set A New Record), the Associated Press Reports:About 2,000 Inmates Living In A Barbed-Wire-Surrounded Tent Encampment At The Maricopa County Jail Have Been Given Permission To Strip Down To Their Government-Issued Pink Boxer Shorts. On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 Degrees Inside

The Week Before.

Many Were Also Swathed In Wet, Pink Towels As Sweat Collected On Their Chests And Dripped Down To Their PINK SOCKS.'It Feels Like We Are In A Furnace,' Said James Zanzot, An Inmate Who Has Lived In The TENTS for 1 year. 'It's Inhumane.'Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic.

He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: 'Its 120 Degrees In Iraq And Our Soldiers Are Living In Tents Too, And They Have To Wear Full Battle Gear,But They Didn't Commit Any Crimes, So Shut Your Damned Mouths!'Way To Go, Sheriff!Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commitanother crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

Today's Brass Balls Award

The owner of Commonwealth Foods, the leader in the no-bid bullshit, has the farkin nerve to complain. He did $1.1 million in no-bid business with the county. If he was working on just a 33% margin(very low for what he sells), he made $330,000. in just 4 years. That equates to $82,500 per year. Please compare that with the median salary for Luzerne County!!! I beg of all the commissioners and any other politician in power, please accept my $5,000 donation ( the very same amount he gave Scrapneck) in exchange for $82,500 per year. Now that's a good investment!!!!

Skrep and Kanjo

Greg just can't help himself. Didn't he ever hear the axiom that it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. I've met Scrap, he is far from stupid. How in the world he thinks joe taxpayer is going to swallow his line of shit time and time again is beyond me. It seems like everybody he is friends with has a no bid deal with the county. The latest prison food supplier story is just fooking beautiful. Not only is the owner close friends with pumpkin head, but Guesto was best man at his wedding. Do these jagofffs think nobody sees a connection???

Kanjo does it again. Nine million taxpayer dollars to his family apparently wasn't enough. He just flipped three million more of our tax dollars to his nephew Russell. Anybody who votes for this waste of human space needs a brain enema!!!

Thoughts

There is so much going on that I really don't know where to start. The ticket scandal with Greg Scrapheap and Guesto seems as good as any. Who hasn't figured out that Luzerne county is a pay to play zone? Greg gives that company a few million county dollars and only asks for some tickets to games in return. That company got the deal of a lifetime!!

Chris Hackett, whom I know and like, pledges not to pursue earmarks. Chris, that would be great. The only problem I see is the several hundred other members of congress that would laugh and say great, more for my district. It is a very short sighted notion and certainly not well thought out. While I'm on the subject of Mr. Hackett, I wish his campaign pukes would stop with the mud already.

The story of Pride hiring illegal aliens comes to light after only 12 or 13 years. I heard Kevin "pinko" Lynn talking about it today. If I am not mistaken, it was 2 or 3 illegals that had false identification. When INS investigated, Pride cooperated fully. Boy, what a scandalous tale. Kevin, do you really think Mr. Meuser actually interviews and hires every person that works at Pride? If so, you're a farktard. Any company that size has a full blown HR department that does that. The HR crew made an honest mistake. The company took responsibility for the mistake. Where is the scandal? If this is the best mud Madeira and crew can come up with for Hackett, they should be canned.

As I've stated many times, I know both of the candidates well. I like and respect both. Never mind the reality that Meuser is the stronger candidate to unseat Carney, I just don't like the way Hackett's hatchet men are running his campaign. I have had enough of that style politician. Chris, you have to take responsiblity for them and they cost you my support. I am behind Meuser 100%. Not that that means diddly squat to you, but there it is. Really, Hackett's Hatchets made the decision far easier than it otherwise would've been.

Obama and Billary are both promising over 200 billion in new spending. I am very curious how they intend to pay for it. I sincerely hope it's just the same tired, old democrat campaign promises that were never meant to be kept. Otherwise, this country is screwed with a capital S.

Amazing

Hyder gets an all expense paid trip to Annapolis. The sheer amount of gall our county leaders have is nothing short of amazing. I hope the papers publish what those three dorks spend on meals there. I've been to Annapolis, it aint cheap!!! Maybe Greg "ready for the" Scrapheap can explain why he is rewarding those that were caught with their hands in the cookie jar. He keeps saying they aren't criminals. I think the lawyer representing that dude from Penn state should use that as a defense. If Luzerne county officials and employees did the exact same thing as his client and it's not criminal, the state must drop the charges.

Guesto and Ciavarella

The formerly honorable Judge Ciavarella actually claimed in todays Times Leader that Guesto was the most qualified for the job. I say bulldookey. He certainly was the most connected man for the job. Already, other applicants have come forward, and according to their claimed credentials, are far more qualified. Come on skooch (sp?), at least have the guts to say why he really got the job.

Luzerne County, Home of the Despot

Can anyone actually believe the friggin unmitigated gall of the powers that be in the courthouse? It isn't just the commissioners but the judges too. What must Guesto have on all of them that they are willing to committ political suicide by giving him another job? Judge Ciavarella, say goodbye to being a judge. You will not be able to "skooch" your way out when it comes time for retention.

I rarely agree with anything Corbett has to say but I sincerely hope he keeps his word and continues to hammer these politicians. They say people in this county have a coal cracker mentality. I say it is time to prove them wrong. I say we vote out all incumbent county seats. I say the new administration goes through every employee's file. If they got their job through connections, so sad, too bad, you're fired!!! It is time to stop the corruption. It is time to stop the cronyism. It is time to elect leaders that not only listen to the people but actually follow the will of the people. If the new crop follows this current crop, boom, out they go. I say we repeat the process until we get good leadership in all county offices. By good, I mean moral, ethical, and honest. I think a provision of law needs to put in place that we can impeach any county officeholder and have them removed!! I think the law should state that they be replaced by the people voting not appointed by a shitheel governor.

What is the difference between this guy and Hyder?

From The Times Leader
WILKES-BARRE – A former maintenance director at Penn State Wilkes-Barre waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Central Court on Thursday in connection with the misuse of a university-issued debit card for personal use.
Reese T. Smith, 46, of Stillwater, waived 234 counts of theft, 78 counts of access-device fraud and a single count of tampering with records to Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas.
University police charged Smith used the debit card to purchase items totaling $17,456 from March 2001 to November 2007, according to arrest records.

Amazing, this guy, over 6 years abuses his debit card to the tune of about $3k per year and is facing 312 criminal counts. Hyder can't even find receipts for more than that from one year. Not only is Hyder not being charged with anything, he keeps his job and gets a raise. If this doesn't make steam come out of your ears, you are either brain dead or a member of the infamous Luzerne County Liberal Democrat ruling class. Have you figured out the difference between Hyder and this guy? They are both criminals but one of them has very powerful friends to protect him.

Business as usual in Luzerne County

Nice vote Greg. It shows just how in touch you are with your constituents. Hyder abuses the living crap out of the system and still keeps his job. What's next? A raise? Don't worry Mr. Skrep, I'm sure all of the voters will forget about it before you have to run again. Then again, you are probably looking forward to leaving office so you can work at your bar full time.

Was Petrilla's vote motive real or was it just a contrived position? Your guess is as good as mine. As for the other members of the prison board, what a bunch of farktards. Urban's vote was a given but those other two richly deserve a kick in the nuts.

A conversation about the fall of an empire

In an e mail exchange with a friend, he wrote that he had no intention of voting this year. When I asked why he wrote "This country and both parties in Washington are Fubar. The Roman Empire is falling – Mark my words, in less than 10 years we will no longer be a power in the World. Sorry to say but true."

It really upset me that someone I've known for many years, someone I respect very much, thinks it is too late for our country. This man is intelligent, hard working, and honest. He is probably one of the nicest people I know and is among the most successful. Holding the world by the balls and still he feels this way. The truth is, I feel that way too and that belief is one of the primary reasons I rant here.

In response to what he wrote, I sent this to him"Our country has fallen on incredibly bad times. Morals and ethics no longer have a place in DC. Our political leaders from both parties are way out of touch with their constituents. They govern by public opinion taken from some asshole polling service. It still isn't too late. We need true conservatives back in power. I really and truly don't give a shit what party they come from. JUST BE CONSERVATIVE!!! We need less government, not more. And we sure as shit need less spending and lower taxes. If things stay the way they are with wide valve douche nozzles running our government, you are right. Our country will collapse under the weight of their hubris."

As I write this I can't help but think that it is not just the politicians in DC. Look at Luzerne County and the joke that is supposed to be our county government. They allow Guesto to resign so he can take another county job for even more money??? You farkin crackpot commissioners have balls bigger the planet. You are SCUM!!!!! I wouldn't piss on any of you to put you out if you were on fire. How many other cronies are you going to give a pass to? My guess is all of them. The real shame is that you'll probably get voted back in anyway. You see when people believe there is no hope for change, they give up. They vote for you because they believe it doesn't matter who they vote for. We've come to expect our political leaders to screw us blind. We no longer hold them to any standard of moral or ethical decency. This will be the fall of our country!

You need to meet the people you are going to vote for. Talk to them. Do their positions resemble what matters to you? After talking to them, go with your gut, if you think they're slimy now, they'll be worse when they're in power. All of the candidates running for office have meet and greet events, please take an hour or two of television time and actually go see them face to face. We have never needed a change for the better than we do right now.

The Republican shambles in Luzerne County

At a time when we need to close ranks and come out in force we have the same fractious bullshit that consistantly prevents us from taking control. I read several other blogs and cannot believe that the attack dogs are already running free. The worst part of this is that the dogs are supposedly Republicans. Some of the slime that has been written is in fact total bs. I googled Pride for sexual harassment suits and found nothing. I did find the chair that caught fire lawsuit. If anybody can find a link to harassment lawsuits, please feel free to post it. As far as Hackett winning the wedding lottery and getting that business for free, again, total crap. I know Chris and the business he took over from his father in law doesn't even bear a passing resembalance to the business he runs today. He grew that to the behemoth it is today. Not his father in law!!!! As for Sweeney, he isn't even a real Republican. He switched parties fairly recently. Mr. Swiderski's bankruptcy has nothing to do with whether or not he can or should win. Nothing, nada, zero, zilch!!!! As for the other couple guys running, nobody has heard of them. They are not viable candidates.

Like it or not, to unseat Carney will take a lot of money. As I have previously stated, we realistically have only 2 guys that can raise the coin needed to get the job done. If you want to be represented by the left coast's lap dog, that's your choice. I don't. The very nature of our party in Luzerne county is to divide into cliques. I know, I've gone to party meetings. Those meetings are a joke!! The clique that runs them neither wants nor takes ideas from those outside of their insider group. Is it any wonder why we're always an also ran in this county?? Cliques are for high school folks, not for adults. When our field is finally narrowed down I hope we can pull our heads out of our collective asses long enough to win back the 10Th. Maybe, just maybe, after we accomplish that we can take back our county.

It never stops

Normally, I am not a fan of our judicial system but I have to give credit where it is due. Judge Burke continues to prove that he is the type of Judge we need. He threw the book at the farktard that fractured a baby's skull. I hope he gets the other pair of scumbags that actually killed a baby. My fondest wish is that these scumbags get a very large cell mate who just loves child molesters and abusers, if you know what I mean.

On another note from our infamous county, I wonder just how much of a contribution one has to give to get the pizza party contract at the prison. Is it a one time thing or do you have to keep paying monthly? While on the subject, can anybody explain to me why prisoners are even having pizza parties????????
