Should there be more qualifications to vote other than age?

I will be on the road today but wanted to get this question out there.

I think there should be and will be writing about this over the weekend. Let me know your thoughts.

18 is enough.

I've had debates about this with my political friends. I say there should be some type of test before someone can vote. My friends say this is reactionary and harkens us back to the "means" testing against blacks in the south prior to Civil Rights legislation. That type of testing was not good and used to discourage participation. But when you have people not knowing how many branches of government there are, have no clue who represents them and what district they live in, there should be some sort of qualification standard. I have said many times that many people are too stupid to vote. The worst part about it is that they are proud of their stupidity. I for one don't want them deciding my fate at the ballot box.

I don't think it's a bad idea to have a test, but what would the test be?

- Who's the president

- Who was the previous president

- What country is this?

Hi Zen, it was great to meet you last night. Good event!

If we had test, 30% of the electorate would be ne disqualified from voting. Which would be a good thing.

It would discredit a lot of Democrats, and even a lot of Republicans. Then again, it might encourage Americans to actually know civics in this Nation, and to know who actually controls the House.

Civics - not really taught anymore in school. Should be mandatory. Maybe that's your qualification for voting: you passed a civics class.

Here's the best financial links I've ever come across, they're linked under "Business" on the right links on my blog, they seem to be the "truthtellers" on the real financial state:

Tom it was good to meet you as well. Even if you are a self-proclaimed tree hugging ultra liberal. lol

You're welcome. I did find a lot of good financial sites, with a little help from my friends. It's the truth, those sites. No partisan bullshit. It might scare you, if you didn't know the truth. Check out Max Keiser's youtube videos, they're always being updated. Max Keiser is a truthteller. They're hard to find, especially with finances. CNBC is corporate bullshit, do NOT listen to them! They're part of the problem. They speak for those causing all the financial problems, like shills. Check out who's behind CNBC sometime. If it's on TV, it ain't real!!! (lol)

Zen: that guy I was arguing with on my blog, believe it or not, is a liberal! I kid you not! I know who that is! The guy who called me a Nazi.

Big Dan said...

He was mad that I have conservative links up on the side of my blog that he doesn't "approve of".

My opinion is that you should get 1 vote for every dollar of your income! Then we would get REAL change in this country!

Anon 9:54, that will never happen, nor should it

When I see Tiffany Bracelets diamond jewelry which are available in the market come in a variety of styles, I’m very excited. This feeling is the same as I have found a treasury, especially those fashion Tiffany diamonds jewelry, so luxury and graceful. I can’t express the feeling when I found this pair of earrings.
