Corbett is not a liberal

In the words of the younger generation; omg, lol, is he fn kdn me? What a crock. The topics between yesterday and today were open carry laws and the smoking ban. What did this non-liberal advocate???? Ban them both. Nobody should carry a gun and nobody should smoke. Well, in a perfect world, nobody should smoke. As for carrying a firearm, out in the open, I personally don't, but it is legal. As for smoking, I personally do smoke, and it was legal. Corbett, the non-liberal, wants both banned. Do we still have any choices left in America? Do whackers like Corbett decide our choices? Should anybody but you decide your choices??????

Corbett said that he is for banning things that are harmful. My question is, where do you draw the line? The difference between a liberal and conservative (in their truest definitions) is really just that conservatives believe in personal responsibility and liberals believe that the government should decide what is best for you. I am am over 21 (by a lot) and think that whatever risky habits I may have are my business. I think that my future is in my hands and will be what I make of it. I think that as an adult, I am responsible for the choices I make. Maybe the liberals are right. Maybe they should make all of our choices for us. I pray that they are wrong.

Why hasn't anybody asked the question?

As everybody in good old NEPA is aware, Luzerne County has had our first reassessment since 1965. Granted, it was long overdo but I have yet to hear or read any news story that asked what they are going to do with the massive influx of tax dollars. Let's face facts, older homes outnumber newer homes by a very large margin in Luzerne County. That means that the vast majority of homeowners are going to see a dramatic increase in their assessment. Hence a dramatic increase in the tax base. Where is that money going to go? Where is the tax abatement from the casinos? How will older (read retired) people on a fixed income come up with the dough to pay? I know what you're thinking. Those people have been paying very little for a long time. That does not answer the question though. Will Luzerne County and the various school districts lower the tax rate because they now have a vastly higher tax base? If you think so, you are either a child or incredibly naive. They will find a way to spend it all. That is what governments and their agencies do.

I live in a home I built 12 years ago. I have been paying close to $4,000 per year in property tax for these past 12 years. My reassessment is due to be mailed this week and I am preparing myself to assume the position. I suggest you all do the same.

Who will they blame when things go from bad (as it is now) to dramatically worse?? Raising taxes on the people that drive the economy? Yep, that will be sure to help. Radically increasing spending on top of a vastly bloated budget? Yep, that will really put our country in good shape. Having the government in charge of our health care? Outstanding. Radical tax increases on corporate profits? Not a chance that will increase consumers costs. Having palavers with terrorists and terror sponsoring nations in hopes they'll start to like us? No doubt that'll end well. What a complete load of shit!!!!
