If Kanjorski wants to clear the air, then he needs to come clean on everything
HAZLETON – Vince Galko, manager for U.S. Congressional candidate Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta, issued the following statement:
Today, Congressman Kanjorski’s campaign manager sent an e-mail to me stating that Congressman Kanjorski would like to clear the air about the scandals surrounding his financial dealings. I think that is a great idea.
Releasing his tax records is a good first start. However, if Congressman Kanjorski really wants to come clean with the citizens of northeastern Pennsylvania, he needs to do more than just release his tax records. Mr. Kanjorski needs to address all of his unethical behavior done at taxpayers’ expense.
Here is the response e-mail Mr. Galko sent to Kanjorski Campaign Manager Joe Werner:
Hey Joe,
I hope you and your family are well.
Mayor Barletta is prepared to defend himself against any innuendo or rumor your campaign is spreading.
If the Congressman really wants to clear the air, then we must request the release of the following:
1. Tax returns for the last 10 years for all Kanjorski family members who worked at Cornerstone Technologies
2. A listing of all expenditures from Cornerstone Technologies including salaries, bonuses and travel
3. Copies of all receipts over the last 10 years for K & K Real Estate
4. The location of the two large milling machines paid for by the Department of Navy and sent to Cornerstone Technologies. (surely the Congressman wants to know what happened to these large taxpayer investments)
5. Copies of letters, emails and phone messages sent or received by the Congressman or any member of his staff (past or present) in regards to AVA Solar. (don’t answer this one too fast)
6. Canceled checks for the taxes paid on the Congressman’s property in Wright Township, Luzerne County
7. The quantity of and amounts deposited in Kanjorski accounts in the Cayman Islands, if any
8. A copy of the application filed by the Earth Conservancy with DEP to accept dredge from the Delaware River. I was told it was applied for while the Congressman was chairman of the group
We will ask for you to respond to this request by October 25.
Anyone in the media will tell you that Lou Barletta is one the most accessible and open public officials with whom they have ever worked. Lou has nothing to hide. Once Congressman Kanjorski releases all of the information we have requested, we will consider your offer.

Why is Paul Kanjorski afraid of Lou Barletta?
Is Kanjorski afraid to go toe-to-toe with Lou?
Tonight’s event in Monroe County is the latest example
HAZLETON – Vince Galko, manager for the campaign of U.S. Congressional candidate Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta, issued the following statement:
Five months ago Mayor Lou Barletta challenged Paul Kanjorski to a series of 11 debates. This would have consisted of six 30-minute issue debates on radio and five public debates – one in each of the five counties of the 11th Congressional District. Paul Kanjorski was not up to the task.
Mayor Barletta said he would drop the radio debate challenge and asked for a debate in each of the five counties of the district. Surely, Paul Kanjorski doesn’t think one county of the district is better than another, so then why not allow each county to host a debate? Paul Kanjorski still couldn’t muster the backbone to do it.
Over the summer, invitations to participate in debates and forums poured into the campaign offices. Everyone from local network television stations to college students to non-profit groups requested debates and forums. Each time, Lou Barletta accepted the challenge, and each time Paul Kanjorski was “too busy.”
Here are three specific examples:
· The Lackawanna Taxpayer Association invited both candidates to debate. Mayor Barletta accepted. Mr. Kanjorski never accepted, so Lou Barletta agreed to do a forum with the group on his own on October 2. Only after Mayor Barletta accepted the October 2 date did Paul Kanjorski contact the group and agree to appear on a separate date – this Thursday, October 16.
· The Center for Independent Living tried to organize of forum on disability issues for October 9. Mayor Barletta agreed. Mr. Kanjorski did not agree and requested time on a separate day.
· The Columbia County Farm Bureau invited the two candidates to a forum on agriculture issues on Saturday, October 11. Mayor Barletta accepted. Mr. Kanjorski did not even reply until the last minute. He sent an aide to sit in for him.
That brings us to tonight – perhaps the saddest example of why we need people with courage and leadership in Washington, D.C. Months ago, the Monroe County Chapter of the NAACP invited both candidates to debate. Mayor Barletta accepted. Mr. Kanjorski strung the organizers along for weeks until finally declining. Then at the last minute, Paul Kanjorski said he will come to the event, but he will not debate Lou Barletta – even though they will both be at the same location at the same time. Instead, Mr. Kanjorski would only appear if there was no debate and he did not have to take the stage with Lou Barletta.
There are other examples of this as well. During the summer, both Lou Barletta and Paul Kanjorski were scheduled to appear at the opening ceremony of Nanticoke’s Heritage Days. When Paul Kanjorski learned that Lou Barletta was going to be there, his staff told the organizers he would not be there and that he would come the next night.
After 24 years in Congress, after raking in more than $150,000 in salary from the taxpayers each year, Paul Kanjorski believes he is better than the people he represents. He doesn’t feel the need to face his constituents or Lou Barletta. His staff says he is “too busy.” Then show us the schedule. Where is Paul Kanjorski over the next 20 days? Why does he think the people of Lackawanna, Monroe, Carbon, and Columbia counties don’t deserve the chance to host a debate?
Some people ask, “How did Congress get a 9 percent approval rating?” The answer is clear – they earned it. The people of northeastern Pennsylvania deserve better – and they will get it in 20 days.”

HAZLETON – This evening, in front of a packed room, at the Woodlands Inn in Luzerne County, U.S. Senator Arlen Specter endorsed Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta in his race for Congress in Pennsylvania's 11th District.
Sen. Specter said, “Lou Barletta has won the confidence of both parties and that's really quite an accomplishment.
“Lou is just the kind of a person you need to represent you in Washington. I am very proud to call him a friend and I am very much looking forward to having him join me on Capitol Hill.”
Mayor Barletta said, “I am honored to have Senator Specter's support. I look forward to working with him in Washington to solve the problems facing America.”
Earlier Monday, Mayor Barletta participated in Senator Specter's conference with healthcare professionals and citizens regarding the cancer cluster in Luzerne, Carbon and Schuylkill counties.

Last Night With Mayor Lou and Upcoming Meet and Greets
I had the pleasure of being at one of his events last night. The man gave a great speech and lots of face time to everybody that was there. If you haven't had the chance to meet him, I highly recommend you attend an event.
The next event will be held on Monday, October 6Th, at The Woodlands from 5:00 until 7:00. Arlen Specter will be the guest speaker!! The donation for this gala is $150 per person or $250 per couple. You need to contact Kristin at 570-454-0635 to confirm attendance. Tell her you saw it here!! I will be there and hope many of my readers will be there as well. We need to do all we can to get Kanjorski out of office. In the past month, there has literally been nearly $3million spent on pro-kanjo ads. Many of those ads are being sponsored by groups that had a huge hand in causing the sub-prime meltdown. The Hunchback of Nanticoke has got to go. See you there!!!!!

And if your retirement and investment portfolios haven’t been demolished by the current financial crisis, $5,000 will get you on the host list for tonight’s event.
That’s a small price to pay for Washington special interest groups and lobbyists who want access to two ethically challenged U.S. congressmen just a few blocks from the Capitol dome.

“We can’t change Washington unless we change the people we send there. Fortunately for the hardworking people of northeastern Pennsylvania, change is less than six weeks away,” Mayor Barletta said.

The political action committee for the National Association of Realtors continues to have a big early presence in individual congressional races, spending more than $1.3 million last week on two Republicans and one Democrat.

Vast corruption dilutes pressure

Rep. Charles Rangel of New York recently came under substantial public pressure to resign his position as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Mr. Rangel acknowledged, after several news stories reported, that he had failed to pay about $75,000 in taxes on revenue from an offshore income property that he owns, and that he has potentially inappropriate stakes in a number of rent-controlled apartments in his Harlem district.The tax issue is particularly troublesome because the Ways and Means Committee is Congress’ chief tax-writing committee. Citizens reasonably should be able to expect that the chairman of that committee pays his own taxes in full.Mr. Rangel decided not to resign, however, because he came under virtually no pressure from his congressional colleagues on either side of the aisle. The reason — pervasive corruption makes Mr. Rangel difficult to isolate as a target.Given that this is a congressional and presidential election year, one would think that Mr. Rangel’s situation would inspire a rollicking political debate about congressional ethics. But it has not developed because the ethical quagmire is so broad and deep.
House Republicans grumbled but did not express outrage because several of their own former committee chairmen and veteran representatives are under ethics or criminal investigations.The reach is very long. As reported by The New York Times, Rep. Paul Kanjorski planned to go ahead with a Washington fundraiser with Mr. Rangel as the featured guest. Mr. Kanjorski isn’t worried about his political ties to Mr. Rangel. Ted Stevens of Alaska, who is under indictment for allegedly failing to report substantial gifts from political supporters.So, on it goes. It is difficult to drive reform when pervasive corruption denies either party a platform to produce it.

Kanjo changes support of oil drilling bills
U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski Tuesday night voted against an energy bill he co-sponsored and praised earlier this summer. He then voted for a bill that includes provisions he had opposed.
Kanjorski signed on as a co-sponsor of House Resolution 6709, a bipartisan bill called the National Conservation, Environment, and Energy Independence Act, on July 3. The bill, which would have lifted the ban on offshore drilling, had broad bipartisan support and Kanjorski was one of its 138 co-sponsors.

U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski, D-Nanticoke, has received $96,000 in campaign donations from mortgage buyers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac since 1989 – ranking him seventh among all members of Congress who received donations from the two firms.
The rankings were compiled by Capital Eye, a division of OpenSecrets.org, which describes itself as nonpartisan, independent and nonprofit, and “the nation’s premier research group tracking money in U.S. politics and its effect on elections and public policy.”
The U.S. government recently took control of the two government-sponsored enterprises that have donated $4.8 million to current members of Congress – 57 percent of the recipients being Democrats.

Moms, sisters, girlfriends and wives also broke into sobs Saturday morning as 83 soldiers from the Pennsylvania National Guard’s 2nd Squadron of the 104th Regiment boarded two charter buses to travel to Fort Indiantown Gap to begin training in preparation for a January deployment to Iraq.

“We are so proud of them and that they are going to serve in the manner that they are. To see their families here I felt it was important to let them know that the people of Hazleton will be with them while they are gone,” said Barletta, a Republican, who will be facing Democratic U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski of Nanticoke in the November election for the 11th District seat.
Kanjorski, who is chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee, stayed in Washington D.C. over the weekend to help draft legislation during the nation’s economic crisis. But he did commend the troops for their service. “As they leave today to fulfill their military duties, they have mine and the American people’s full support. I hope that our mission in Iraq will soon come to an end and that our troops come home safely to their families.”

Losing groundEditor: I read with great amazement about the decision of Scranton Zoning Board to deny an exception for a Latino dance studio. We still divide and prohibit the joining of cultures in this city.It is a great master plan that community leaders undertook years ago to get rid of the Afro-American community by clearing away all that involved their neighborhood and promising a safer, cleaner and well-constructed area. Now that is to be purchased and done away with eventually. It is an end of black and biracial historical culture — all in the name of education. Not one political and/or community leader spoke up on behalf of the neighborhood; those of us who do fight to hang on to this area are labeled anti-education. I wonder who will fight for the old Scranton Tech High School when it is sold behind closed doors, as was the field next to it.Perhaps part of the funds raised by the sales should be invested in the teaching of respect for all cultural communities in this city.Political leaders across this city and county should keep in mind that the number of Latino residents is growing rapidly and they may need their votes some day. What can you tell them you have done for them and their neighborhood except to insult and belittle them?The 1960s are over. It is time to grow up and catch up with the rest of the world. Look what GOP has done for nation
Remember when the Republicans controlled every branch of federal government from 2000 to 2006?
They controlled the U.S. House, the Senate, the White House (with President Bush), and seven of nine Supreme Court justices were Republican-chosen. They controlled every federal committee, department and agency.
I vividly remember how they took advantage of this first-time, 100 percent, total control for those six consecutive years. They came through like they always promised they would if they had the majority, and they banned abortion, overturned Roe vs. Wade, outlawed gay marriage, outlawed flag-burning, balanced the budget, opened up offshore drilling, initiated school vouchers and stopped illegal immigration.
God bless the Republicans for having that six-year period to do what they always promised Republican voters. But it gets better!

Kanjorski claims he is too busy, yet he has time to walk around Stroud Fest for several hours looking for friendly faces. Where is the outrage from other area institutions such as the League of Women Voters, WNEP TV and East Stroudsburg University, to name a few? Monroe County with its population of 165,000 people deserves better. To Congressman Kanjorski, I say, "Debate here. Debate now."

Rep. Charles Rangel of New York recently came under substantial public pressure to resign his position as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Mr. Rangel acknowledged, after several news stories reported, that he had failed to pay about $75,000 in taxes on revenue from an offshore income property that he owns, and that he has potentially inappropriate stakes in a number of rent-controlled apartments in his Harlem district.The tax issue is particularly troublesome because the Ways and Means Committee is Congress’ chief tax-writing committee. Citizens reasonably should be able to expect that the chairman of that committee pays his own taxes in full.Mr. Rangel decided not to resign, however, because he came under virtually no pressure from his congressional colleagues on either side of the aisle. The reason — pervasive corruption makes Mr. Rangel difficult to isolate as a target.Given that this is a congressional and presidential election year, one would think that Mr. Rangel’s situation would inspire a rollicking political debate about congressional ethics. But it has not developed because the ethical quagmire is so broad and deep.

U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski Tuesday night voted against an energy bill he co-sponsored and praised earlier this summer. He then voted for a bill that includes provisions he had opposed.
Kanjorski signed on as a co-sponsor of House Resolution 6709, a bipartisan bill called the National Conservation, Environment, and Energy Independence Act, on July 3. The bill, which would have lifted the ban on offshore drilling, had broad bipartisan support and Kanjorski was one of its 138 co-sponsors.

In today's Times Leader good old Kanjo has said he is with President Bush regarding the Fannie and Freddie bail outs. According to Obama's and Kanjo's ads, anybody that agrees with anything Bush says is evil and deserves to be flogged. I don't understand Kanjo, does this mean you don't deserve anybody's vote because you are siding with Bush?? You may want to consider pulling your current ads off the tube, dumb ass.

A great analogy
I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. What a beauty of a bird feeder it is, as I filled it lovingly with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started
building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table ...everywhere! Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch any more. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be.... quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal. Now let's see.Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, and free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegal came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English. Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to 'press one' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and
people waving flags other than 'Old Glory' are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties. Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder.
Maybe not as bad in our area yet, but it is coming. Vote Lou Barletta!!!!!!!

I am away this week but I must rant
Occasionally in this life, we all get to the point when we need to take a little time for ourselves. That time for me is this week. I made a commitment to take a few friends golfing at my club that would otherwise never have a chance to play there. By doing so, I passed up my chance to have lunch with John McCain. I would dearly have loved to be at that lunch, but in this world, all you have is your word. I gave my word and kept it as I have done for all of my adult life. Perhaps if the lefties learned what it means to be a man of your word, regardless of sacrifice, the world would be a lot better place.
We have become a nation of people with their hand out. We know longer remember J.F.K.'s words. We now, as a whole, ask what our country can do for us. I say that the tyranny of me first will destroy our nation. I say that the governmental institution of forcing our manufacturers offshore weakens us. I say that the bullshit term of "Free Trade" kills us. You see that we offer free trade to other nations and they dump(if you don't know what dump means, please stop wasting our atmosphere by breathing) their goods here. Those same countries do not allow our products to be fairly marketed.
We were once the big dog on the planet producing and shipping goods worldwide. That is what made us a superpower. I say those days are gone and going even farther. Please tell me any major purchase you want to make that is 100% American made. Did you guess Chevy, Ford, Dodge? You would be wrong. America is just about the largest consumer on the planet. What happened to the customer is always right?? Why are we letting these countries dictate our country's internal policy?? We, as a nation, should be negotiating from a position of strength. Instead, we allow third-world shit holes to become our overlords. The big question is WHY?????????????

Mayor Lou Barletta on the Pinko's show
How in the world he kept from giving Kevin a slap is a mystery. A listener would ask a question and just as Lou would start to answer Kevin would jump in with his uber leftie bullshit and just talk over him. When the Pinkster wasn't doing that, he was busy redirecting to another topic before the one at hand could be answered. Kevin's main point was that anybody with brown skin or an accent would have to provide identification to authorities. I got news for you douchelapper, everybody has to provide Id to the authorities. Ever get pulled over for speeding?? Ever check in at an airport?? Ever buy a car? etc, etc, ad nauseum. Pinky, you've said some retarded crap over the years, but today was just beautiful.
